Empowered women can bring remakeble change in family as well as society. Women play crucial role in shaping lives of the children and inculcate best practices in the society. Status of women in rural areas in comparison to urban setting is different. When SARA initiated its operations, literacy rate among girls was very poor. Women suffered social ignorance and were accepted to work for family at home and in the farms. They were never offered options to educate themselves and attain economic independence. Organization started from basics to educate rural community to provide attention to girls of the families similar to boys. In later stages, various programs were implemented to strengthen women through information on their rights, mainstreaming single women or widows through economic sustainability and equal opportunities for techincal education to attain formal sector jobs. Women were also provided an opportunity to earn through skills enhancement through technology innovations such as solar engineering "Barefoot engineers".
